Your Hair Loss Isn’t Just Postpartum — It’s Hormonal

Still shedding months after giving birth? Your body is trying to tell you something.

Losing some hair after giving birth is normal. But if your hair is still falling out in clumps at 6, 9, or 12 months postpartum — that’s not just “postpartum shedding.”That’s your body waving a red flag.
You’re not vain. You’re not overreacting.
Hair is deeply connected to our hormones, nutrients, stress, and inflammation levels — especially in postpartum. When something's off, your scalp often knows before the rest of you does.
Here’s what I want you to know:You are not broken. But you do need support.
What causes extended postpartum hair loss?
Low ferritin (iron stores) — especially if you bled a lot during birth or had low iron in pregnancy
High androgens — which can spike if your body’s inflamed or your blood sugar is imbalanced
Estrogen dominance — your estrogen drops after birth, and for some women, progesterone never catches up
Thyroid changes — postpartum thyroiditis is common, but underdiagnosed
Mold exposure — yep, mold toxins can lead to shedding, breakage, and even new texture changes
What I recommend to my postpartum clients:
Run a full thyroid + iron panel: (Not just TSH! Ask for ferritin, free T3/T4, reverse T3, TPO antibodies)
Eat nutrient-dense meals: Think: protein, omega-3s, bone broth, cooked greens, and iron-rich foods
Lower inflammation gently: Skip the HIIT for now. Focus on sleep, hydration, blood sugar balance, and supporting detox (castor oil packs, lymphatic drainage)
You deserve to feel at home in your body again.
Hair loss isn’t “just cosmetic.” It’s a reflection of how your body is recovering, coping, and adjusting after birth.
If your shedding doesn’t feel right, I want to help you get answers.

You’re not imagining this. And you don’t have to go through it alone.
